SUPPORTING WOMEN & CHILDREN AT RISK OF HOMELESSNESS

HOW CAN I HELP?

The sleepout for homelessness brings together Queensland built environment practitioners, schools, and friends to raise funds in support of women and children on the pathway to safe and affordable housing. All funds are directed to the Queensland based volunteer run charity Second Chance Programme, focused on building resilience and providing gap funding to women and children to secure and affordable housing.

In 2023 students, graduates, architects, planners, urban designers, engineers, and academics will spend the night in their cars at the University of Queensland to draw attention to the hidden homeless. They are those people that move place to place, couch surfing with friends and family, or sleeping in their cars. Our current housing market is not working with skyrocketing housing costs forcing more women and children into perilous living situations. As a profession we can draw attention to the problem whilst at the same time raising funds to support charities and programs who help those doing it tough.
